About Credit Unions
As member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives, credit unions differ structurally and philosophically from other financial institutions.

Owed to their foundation as a social movement, credit unions believe strongly that they have an obligation to work toward the betterment of their communities.

They believe, too, in people working together to achieve a better life.

May 20, 2014 - The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia has contributed $10,000 to the Anthem LemonAid Campaign benefiting the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in Richmond and Hampton Roads, Va.

On July 18-20, LemonAid stands will be springing up in both areas of the state in hopes of putting the squeeze on childhood cancer. Each dollar raised during the campaign will be donated to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters (Norfolk) and Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU to help treat kids battling cancer.

Credit unions in both areas are encouraged to participate in the campaign, which includes web-based "stands," allowing participants to solicit online donations from family and friends through email requests.

"Virginia-based credit unions have had a long and successful partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals for more than a decade, and the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia is proud to sponsor this year's Anthem LemonAid campaign," said David Miles, chief operating officer of the Credit Unions Care Foundation.

Each hospital has a $15,000 campaign goal.

“Credit unions have such a passion for their communities and we are honored to call them our partner! They should be commended not only for their monetary contributions to Children’s Miracle Networks Hospitals and their other organizations of choice but also for their volunteer spirit and enthusiasm," says Amy Dickstein, Programs Coordinator, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (Richmond, VA). Thanks to the support of valued partners like our credit unions, CMN Hospitals across the commonwealth are able to provide world-class care and treatment for the children in our communities.”

Get involved by planning your own online or physical LemonAid stand by visiting the appropriate hospital's website: http://bit.ly/lemonaid_rich (Richmond) or http://bit.ly/lemonaid_nflk (Norfolk). You can also make a secure, online donation at either website to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
